Supporting durable watershed knowledge in the regions you serve
Angling Division partners with a small number of fly shops each season to support participation by guides and long-term local anglers.
This is not advertising.
It is patronage.
Fly shops that participate help underwrite the creation of a regional seasonal record that reflects the rivers their communities depend on.
Sponsorship is:
Support for contributor participation
Alignment with a serious, non-extractive project
Association with a long-term regional archive
Sponsorship is not:
Advertising placement
Product promotion
Content marketing
Lead generation
The River Ledger is ad-free by design.
What Sponsorship Is (and Is Not)
Participating fly shops receive:
Copies of the annual River Ledger
Acknowledgement within Angling Division records
Early visibility into regional seasonal patterns that help you plan for the following season
Alignment with a project that reflects restraint, care, and seriousness
Some shops choose to keep Ledgers in-store as reference copies. Others retain them privately. Use is at your discretion.
What Sponsors Receive
Sponsorship is regionally bounded.
Fly shops are only invited to support work within river systems they actively serve. This ensures the resulting record remains grounded and relevant rather than abstract.
Geographic Focus
Fly shops that value:
Long-term river health over short-term hype
Knowledge that compounds across seasons
Quiet credibility rather than noise
Stewardship without virtue signaling
If your shop already plays this role informally, Angling Division formalizes it.
Who This Is For
Eligibility
This program is intended for brick & mortar, privately-held, local fly shops in any state or province touching one of the Great Lakes inside or near the HUC4 watershed.
Participation is limited and reviewed.
About Sponsorship
Fly shop sponsorship is structured as patronage rather than advertising.
The cost reflects support for regional contributors, seasonal synthesis, and the production of a durable record that serves the rivers your shop depends on. The return is alignment with serious, long-term work.
Sponsorship levels include: Supporter, Patron, and Benefactor.
Benefactor Sponsorship
Some shops are in a position to support work that needs to exist, regardless of immediate return.
Benefactor Sponsorship is intended for fly shops that want to help Angling Division reach long-term stability without altering its scope, voice, or independence.
This support does not purchase influence, visibility, or preferential treatment.
It exists solely to ensure continuity.
What It Supports
Benefactor contributions are used to:
Stabilize seasonal operations
Maintain limited participation without pressure to scale
Preserve the ad-free, non-extractive nature of the River Ledger
Ensure the work can continue across uncertain seasons
This support absorbs risk so the project does not have to.
What Benefactors Receive
Benefactors receive:
Recognition within Angling Division’s internal archival record
Acknowledgment in the River Ledger as a Benefactor
Multiple copies of the annual River Ledger for internal use
Direct communication regarding project continuity and scope
There are no additional placements, privileges, or editorial considerations.
About Benefactor Support
Benefactor Sponsorship is intentionally priced above standard support levels.
The amount reflects a commitment to the existence of the work itself, not to any specific deliverable or outcome.
This option is offered quietly and accepted sparingly.

The Supporter Sponsorship level enables your shop to enroll two contributing guides at Endorsed Level. Each guide receives a copy of River Ledger at season's end, and your shop is publicly acknowledged as a Fly Shop Partner.
