Curated Exhibitions in Non-Traditional Spaces

DRIFT CABINET produces temporary, site-specific exhibitions that teach people to pay close attention to the world around them. Through observation, physical collections, experiential programming, and unfamiliar ways of seeing, each exhibition invites people to encounter a place more closely and understand it at multiple scales.

Exhibitions bring together samples, materials, objects, images, field records, and other forms of evidence that make the characteristics and systems of a particular site tangible. Programming extends this encounter beyond the exhibition itself, using the site as a source of direct experience, observation, and inquiry.

Each installation is developed in response to its setting. A watershed, landscape, infrastructure, ecological site, public space, or institutional headquarters can become the basis for an exhibition that reveals relationships that are easy to overlook when encountered only through maps, signage, reports, or conventional interpretation.

DRIFT CABINET exhibitions are mobile and temporary, designed for public and civic institutions, watershed and land-management organizations, planning and development offices, research institutions, botanical and ecological sites, educational programs, and other settings where a place itself can become part of the exhibition.

The result is an opportunity to see a familiar place differently, encounter an unfamiliar place more attentively, and recognize the larger systems of which both are a part.
